It is fortunate that many types of training classes are available to licensed family child care providers. But once the class is over, often all you are left with is your newly acquired knowledge and a piece of paper proving you attended. Not with CCNI's Competency Based Training Program!
We offer providers the opportunity to obtain a set of credentials developed by the University of Minnesota. These credentials, which earn the trainee the "Family Child Care Professional" title, are equivalent to the National Child Development Associate credential. However, only CCNI's unique program is specifically designed for family child caregivers.
What are the benefits of the child care credentials?
- A self-evaluation and professional assessment identifies one's strengths in ten competency areas.
- Providers automatically qualify for a group child care license.
- Providers acquire many necessary skills for professional positions.
- It assists in raising the public's view of the status and professionalism of child care providers.
- In Minnesota, the trained child care provider receives a higher reimbursement rate for those children whose parents are on the Basic Sliding Fee Program.
- The trainee is awarded a professional credential which is recognized by the State of Minnesota after successfully completing the process.
- Providers and their credential are registered with Child Care Resource and Referral services.
- Participants develop strong support networks with many other child care providers.
