Meal Patterns for Child Nutrition
There are two groups of meal patterns. The first group is for infants up to 12 months old. Foods in this group vary according to the infant's age. (Infants under 4 months of age are not served solid foods.) The second group is for children over 1 year of age.
Foods for Infants
Foods are appropriate for infants of different ages. Breast milk should be served to infants whenever possible. Solid foods are introduced gradually to infants 4 to 7 months old. Whenever possible, day care providers should consult parents concerning the introduction of solid foods.
